The Novatec QR-247 Titanium Front Skewer is a lightweight wheel-retention component for cyclists replacing an existing quick release or reducing weight on a compatible bicycle. It combines a titanium shaft with an alloy lever and adjustment nut, offering an alternative to conventional steel-shaft skewers. It suits road bikes and other bicycles using traditional quick-release front wheels. Unlike a thru-axle, the skewer works with a compatible hollow hub axle and open fork dropouts. It is a replacement for an existing quick-release arrangement, not a conversion component for thru-axle forks.
Lightweight Construction. The combination of titanium and alloy components reduces material weight while retaining the mechanical clamping arrangement of a conventional quick release. The lever operates through a cam mechanism, allowing the wheel to be secured and released without carrying a separate tool. This is useful for cyclists who regularly remove their front wheel for transportation, maintenance or puncture repairs. The adjustment nut provides the opposing clamping surface, allowing the rider to establish appropriate closing resistance before securing the lever.
Correct Wheel Fitment. Before installation, confirm that the fork and hub use a compatible quick-release system. The skewer must pass freely through the hollow axle while providing sufficient thread engagement for the adjustment nut. When closing the lever, ensure the wheel is fully seated in the fork dropouts and that adequate clamping force is achieved. The lever should not interfere with the fork or brake components. Check wheel security before every ride, particularly after removing and reinstalling the wheel for transport or servicing.
