The Bike Affair was founded by Gokul Krishna and Krishnendu Basu, who were colleagues at a software company in 2009. During their lunchtime conversations they often talked about their shared passion for bicycles. Krish soon realised how little quality service and how few decent accessories were available to riders, and that gap became the idea for a store that could properly support the cycling community.
On 15 August 2009, The Bike Affair opened its doors as part of the Independence Day Ride, initially operating only on weekends. After a year, Krish and Gokul left their software jobs to run it full time.
Today we have a physical retail store and workshop in Kondapur, Hyderabad, and serve riders across India through this online store.
What we do
- Retail, in store and online. Road, gravel, mountain and hybrid bikes, components, apparel, helmets, shoes, trainers, GPS computers and nutrition.
- Workshop, from a pre-ride tune up to a full strip down, with a written estimate, a two week guarantee. Details and pricing are on our repairs page.
- Bike fitting, at the Kondapur store.
- Coaching, for cyclists and triathletes.
- Bicycle tours, in India and abroad.
- Group rides, weekly in Hyderabad, open to everyone. Start points are posted on our Strava club.
The people behind it
- Gokul Krishna, co-founder. An ABCC certified coach who coaches cyclists and runners in triathlon, and is in the store most days.
- Krishnendu Basu, co-founder. Handles bike fitting and our cycling tours.
- Sampath, leads the eCommerce side. Joined as an intern in 2015 while still studying.
- Sailendra, retail store manager. A multiple time state champion and the current state champion, racing and riding for over ten years.
- Sandhya, order processing and customer support.
- Arbaaz, workshop technician.
Everything we sell is brand new
We do not deal in used, second-hand, refurbished or ex-demo bikes and components. Every product we sell, in store and online, is brand new and carries full manufacturer warranty. The only bikes in the store that have been ridden are our two demo bikes, and those are not for sale. They exist so you can try a bike before buying one.
How to reach us
You can contact us on WhatsApp, by email or by phone. WhatsApp and email are the best ways to reach us, because they let us look something up properly before replying rather than guessing on the spot.

We aim to respond within 24 hours.
We are a small team and everyone here fills several roles at once. The same people who answer your message are also building bikes, running the workshop, packing orders and serving customers in the store, so there is no one sitting waiting to reply the moment a message arrives. That is a deliberate trade-off rather than an oversight, and it is worth being honest about it.
It does not mean your message is unimportant. We know that a question about sizing, an order that has not arrived, or a bike that is not working properly matters, and often matters urgently. Every message gets read and answered by someone who actually rides, and we get back as quickly as we can.
If your question is about sizing, compatibility or where an order has reached, TBA Guide, our chat assistant, can often answer it immediately at any hour. It is free and sits on every page of the site.
