Novatec D982TSB Rear Centre Lock Disc Hub is a rear hub for riders building or rebuilding a centre lock disc wheel around a 12×142mm thru-axle frame. It uses a Shimano HG 11-speed freehub and is intended for conventional road disc, gravel and XC/trail applications listed by Novatec. This is not an e-MTB hub, and the thru-axle itself is not supplied. Its defining combination is straightforward Shimano HG cassette compatibility with a modern centre lock, thru-axle rear-wheel standard.
Built Around Compatibility. The 142mm rear spacing suits frames designed around the established 12×142mm standard, while the centre lock interface is intended for matching centre lock brake rotors. This makes it relevant for riders replacing an existing hub or having a new rear wheel built without changing the bike's axle or rotor standard. The 11-speed freehub specification is particularly important when matching an existing cassette.
Check Before Building. Confirm that the frame uses 12×142mm rear spacing and that the brake rotor is centre lock rather than 6-bolt. The freehub is Shimano HG, so cassettes requiring SRAM XDR or Shimano Micro Spline bodies are not compatible with this version. A compatible thru-axle must already be available with the bike or sourced separately because Novatec does not include one with the hub.
