Cannondale Size Chart

Find your height, then read across to the model you are looking at. Cannondale uses numeric sizes on road bikes, roughly matching the seat tube length in centimetres, and alphabetical sizes on gravel, mountain and fitness bikes. The same rider is frequently a different size on different models, so check the specific model rather than assuming.

Every chart below is Cannondale's official rider height guidance. If you fall between two sizes, read the note underneath the tables before deciding.

The same rider is often a different size

Take a rider of 175cm. On a SuperSix Evo, Synapse, CAAD or SuperX they are a 54. On a Topstone they are an MD. On a Scalpel they sit right on the MD and LG boundary, and on a Quick between MD and LG. Four different answers from one height, which is why the model matters as much as the number.

If you fall between two sizes

Cannondale's ranges deliberately overlap, so plenty of riders sit in two sizes at once. Height alone cannot resolve it, because two riders of identical height can have very different leg and torso proportions.

  • Longer legs and a shorter torso: the smaller size usually suits, since the saddle can be raised but reach cannot easily be shortened.
  • Longer torso and arms: the larger size usually suits.
  • Racing or an aggressive position: the smaller size, which allows a lower and longer position.
  • Comfort and long distance: the larger size, which gives a more upright position.

A stem change of 10 or 20mm adjusts reach meaningfully within a frame size, but it cannot rescue a frame that is genuinely the wrong size. Get the frame right first.

Our frame sizing reference covers measuring your inseam and what stack and reach mean, and our handlebar and stem guide explains how much adjustment a stem really gives you.

Get sized in person

We stock Cannondale at our Kondapur store in Hyderabad and keep a Cannondale SuperSix as a demo bike, so you can be measured and ride the size before committing. A size check costs nothing.

Not in Hyderabad? Send us your height, your inseam and your current bike position on WhatsApp and we will tell you which size to order. Professional bike fitting is also available at the store.

Common questions

What size Cannondale do I need for my height?

It depends on the model. On road models such as the SuperSix Evo, Synapse and CAAD, a rider of 170 to 180cm takes a 54, and a rider of 165 to 175cm takes a 51. On gravel and mountain models the sizes are alphabetical, so a Topstone rider of 170 to 185cm takes an MD. Find your height in the chart for the specific model you are considering rather than assuming one size carries across the range.

Do Cannondale numeric sizes match the frame size in centimetres?

Roughly, but not exactly. Numbers such as 51, 54 and 56 derive from traditional seat tube length in centimetres, and modern frame geometry has moved on considerably from measuring frames that way. Treat the number as a label rather than a measurement, and use the rider height ranges and, where available, stack and reach figures to choose. Two brands using the same number can fit very differently.

Is Cannondale sizing the same as other brands?

No, and this catches people out when moving between brands. A 54 from one manufacturer can have noticeably different reach and stack from a 54 from another, and alphabetical sizes vary even more. Never order by the size printed on your current bike. Use the height chart for the specific model, and where you are close to a boundary, compare stack and reach against the bike you already ride.

Can I use a different stem to make a size fit?

Within limits, yes. Changing stem length by 10 to 20mm alters reach noticeably and is a normal part of fitting a bike, and flipping the stem or moving spacers adjusts the handlebar height. What a stem cannot do is correct a frame that is a full size too large or too small, because standover height, wheelbase and handling are all set by the frame. Choose the frame size first and use the stem to fine tune.

Not sure between two sizes?

If your measurements fall between two frame sizes, reach and stack matter more than the number on the chart. Send us your height and inseam and we will tell you which one to take.
