The stem sets how far forward and how high your handlebar sits, so changing it is one of the simplest ways to improve fit and handling. A shorter or higher-rise stem brings the bars closer for comfort, while a longer, lower stem suits an aggressive position. Check the steerer clamp, usually 28.6 mm, and the handlebar clamp, usually 31.8 mm or 35 mm, before you choose.
