Controltech SLA Compact Handlebar, model RA-513, is an aluminium road bar aimed at riders who want a compact drop position without moving to carbon. Controltech uses AL7050 aluminium for the SLA platform, giving it a performance-oriented alloy construction for road riding and sportive racing. Compared with more basic alloy road bars, the SLA adds a compact bend, shaped control sections and Di2 junction compatibility while retaining a conventional separate handlebar and stem setup.
Made for Control. The compact bend is intended for riders who prefer a higher hand position when using the drops, while the 4° outward flare creates a slightly more open lower-hand position. Controltech also incorporates a triangular section intended to improve control. The oversized centre section provides a stiff platform for harder efforts, out-of-saddle riding and steering inputs without requiring a proprietary integrated cockpit.
Check Your Routing. Cable routing is external through grooved channels rather than fully internal, so brake and shift housing should be positioned before applying bar tape. Shimano EW-RS910 junction-box compatibility makes it suitable for compatible Di2 installations. Riders replacing another handlebar should confirm the stem clamp and brake-shift lever interfaces before fitting. Reach and drop should also be compared with the existing cockpit because these dimensions directly affect lever position and hand placement.
